What are Flap Valves?
Flap valves and flap gates are a type of non-return valve (NRV) used to prevent flooding and to stop water back-flowing up pipework connecting into ponds, ditches, swales, rivers and marine or tidal environments.

What type do you offer?
Our range of flap valves and flap gates includes wall mounted flap valves, tidal flap valves, flange mounted flap valves as well as push fit and pipe mounted flap valves. As standard our HDPE flap valves have a 50 year design life. Althon HDPE flap valves can be manufactured to suit site specific installation requirements and operating water pressures.

Can I have a flap valve factory fitted to an Althon Headwall?                 
Yes! Althon flap valves can be factory fitted to our precast concrete headwalls and chambers. For installation on site by others we supply a EPDM seal, stainless steel fixings and chemical anchors.

Precast Concrete Headwalls

Althon manufacture the largest range of precast concrete headwalls in the UK for pipes, culverts and box culverts. 15 years ago we have launched our first headwall brochure with a range of 40 different headwalls. Today we have over 500 different headwalls!

This range includes Anglian Water approved headwalls, Severn Trent water specification for rectangular precast outfalls, Sewerage sector guidance compliant headwalls and many more.

We are also able to factory fit a range of accessories to our headwalls making installation much faster and safer. Some of these accessories include flap valves, tideflex valves, kee klamp handrails, stepped baffle blocks, gratings, pond liner brackets and the list goes on.

Aluminium Stop Logs on Headwalls

Althon have recently supplied 10 precast concrete headwalls to Radyr, Wales for the A4119 project.

All of the headwalls required factory fitted accessories such a kee klamp handrail, gratings and aluminium stop logs. Having the accessories factory fitted saves time on installation and has great health and safety benefits.

Our SFA headwall range is 8 years old!

The Sewers for Adoption headwall range was launched 8 years ago and is still one of our bestselling ranges of precast concrete headwalls.
The headwalls are compliant with Sewerage Sector Guidance and should be used as part of a section 104 agreement when the sewers are to be adopted once completed by the local water company.
